Huw Stephens (DJ set)

We’re delighted to invite Huw Stephens (DJ/presenter: BBC Radio 1, 6Music, BBC Radio Cymru, Anorac and co-founder of the Sŵn Festival and Welsh Music Prize,) back to the castle this year to curate an evening of fantastic Welsh music, and it’s an absolute belter!

Headlining the night, a rare chance to see Charlotte Church’s Late Night Pop Dungeon, a genre-hopping covers set performed live by an expansive (and impressive) backing band fronted, to perfection, by mistress Charlotte Church.

Past Pop Dungeons have seen the likes of David Bowie, Britney Spears, Beyonce, Prince, En Vogue, Rage Against The Machine, Missy Elliott and Black Sabbath spliced together into an irresistible evening of pop majesty; a night that promises to leave audiences united, euphoric, and thoroughly danced out!  In her own words ‘It’s full of love; like a massive party with a really warm hug at the end’.

Joining the headliners for the evening we have not one, but two of the hottest new bands around; Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard and Adwaith.

Buzzard Buzzard Buzzard are a 4-piece from Cardiff who regularly sell-out shows in the city, and have toured to ecstatic reviews everywhere they play. Their live sets are wild and energetic, channelling the ghosts of rock and roll past, but offering a fresh take on the classic rock model. While dressed in denim.

Adwaith are a ludicrously talented 3-piece experimental post punk band from Carmarthen. They have been remixed by James Dean Bradfield from Manic Street Preachers, toured with The Joy Formidable and Gwenno, and critically acclaimed for their debut album Melyn. They are fast becoming cult heroes.

And to add to all that, the man himself, Huw Stephens will be playing some of his favourite music between the bands.
