Watercolour Society of Wales
Pigments With Water

Saturday 19 April – Saturday 24 May 2008

Watercolour Society of Wales

The society was formed in 1959 by like-minded artists keen to collaborate and to promote the medium of watercolour painting in Wales. Their legacy lives on with the society holding regular and significant art exhibitions throughout the Principality.

These exhibitions are varied in content and style from landscape to portrait and from the broadest wash to the finest detail, but always interesting and stimulating, showing the life and scenery of Wales in all its beauty and colour.

The society currently has around forty members who come from a variety of artistic backgrounds painting mainly in watercolour and other water-soluble media. There are professional artists in its ranks as well as members coming from other walks of life , and it’s certainly true that the society represents some of the most imaginative and influential artists living in Wales.

Recently the Society was honoured by the Prince of Wales, an established artist in his own right, agreeing to become its Patron.

The Society strives to keep pace with the ever-changing world of art in terms of style, techniques and new media, and looks to recruit new and emerging talent in Wales. More information is available on our website www.watercolourwales.co.uk
