Rebecca Jane Rotie
Neolithic Sites of North Pembrokeshire
Tony Kitchell
Paintings
12 July 2004 – 5 August 2004
This is the first time audiences will have the opportunity to see
two exhibitions running side by side at Oriel Mwldan. An exhibition
of new paintings by Tony Kitchell and photographs by Rebecca Jane
Rotie share a common inspiration in the imagery and ambiguity of
the Pembrokeshire landscape.

Personal Statement
Having lived in or near to Pembrokeshire all my life, I have enthusiastically
explored and felt inspired by the powerful landscape. The body of
photographic works selected for this exhibition is a small part
of a larger collection of particular sites of great historic interest
including Burial Chambers, Standing Stones and Stone Circles of
the Neolithic period. The intention of my show is to motivate others
to explore and experience the ambience of these sacred sites.

Personal Statement
This exhibition has given me the opportunity to realise a project
I have been thinking about for a few years. The aim is to fill the
new exhibition space at Theatr Mwldan with myriad colours and the
inspiration for this is drawn from the many spring wild flowers
growing along the coast path in Pembrokeshire. My method in producing
these paintings involves making small oil studies from nature and
enlarging certain areas to the point of abstraction.
