David Hurn
A Welsh Life
Exhibition Originated by Aberystwyth Arts Centre
27.10.07-
08.12.07
Photographer David Hurn started an international reputation in
the 60’s with his intensely personal coverage of that period
and his iconic images of friends such as The Beatles, Peter O’Toole,
Sean Connery and Jane Fonda etc.
In the 1970’s he returned to his home country Wales to try
to discover-what is meant by the word culture?
To this end he planned three books, dealing with: the way we live;
the people, and the landscape. Two of the books, ‘Land of
My Father’ and ‘Living in Wales’, have been published
and the third is in production.
The exhibition ‘A Welsh Life’ brings together the three
strands of David Hurn’s project. His beautifully composed
and printed images present an unforgettable, clear eyed yet affectionate
view of a changing country.
