Aberystwyth Printmakers
Monday 20 February – Wednesday 22 March 2006
Aberystwyth Printmakers was established in August
2004 by a small group of artists who employ a range of printing
techniques in their work, including etching, lithography, screenprinting,
wood engraving, woodcut and linocut. The principle aim of the group
has been the promotion of printmaking through a series of talks,
lectures, demonstrations and exhibitions of their work. This show
at Oriel Mwldan follows successful exhibitions at the Cambrian Gallery
in Tregaron and at The Aberystwyth Arts Centre in 2005.
Ultimately the group intends to establish a world-class
open-access print workshop in Aberystwyth that will provide full
facilities for printmaking and studio space for its members. At
present the group occupies a small workshop attached to the Gorweilion
Centre on Llanbadarn Road in Aberystwyth and from January 2006 this
will be open on a regular basis for anyone interested in etching
and relief printing. To date the group has around 35 members. If
you are interested in becoming a member please contact the secretary
Robert Carpenter on 01545 570 065 or Paul Croft at puc@aber.ac.uk
